Nail it

Some summery colours on my nails made not as summery day a bit brighter. I really like the effect these varnishes give - it's a bit like jelly effect, nice colour, good coverage but still slightly translucent.
I used nail varnishes I found in Poland, Golden Rose. Not sure if they are available anywhere else but if you come across them defo get them. They got about 5 or 6 different types of varnishes in loads of colours. Love them.

Uzylam tu lakierow ktore znalazlam ostatnio w Polsce - Golden Rose. Super cena (ok.6-7 zl), duzo rodzajow lakierow i jeszcze wiecej kolorow. Polecam.

Ssssnake

Here's my recent purchase  - this great summer dress is from H&M and comes in four or five different colours/patterns. But with my love for animal patterns the choice between snakeskin print or paisley was a no-brainer ;)

Maxi

Finally! The sun is out, we're not risking frost bites when venturing out in the morning without socks/tights etc and we can finally make use of lovely summer dresses that are currently ruling in all shops.
Maxi dresses were the key item last year and fortunately are here to stay this season as well. It's a  great versatile piece that looks equally good at work, on a night out with your girls and on holidays. Just play around with accessories and you have a winner.

Nareszcie! Wyszlo slonce, juz nie ryzykujemy odmrozen gdy rano wychodzimy bez skarpetek/ rajstop itp. i mozemy wreszcie zrobic uzytek z pieknych letnich sukienek ktore obecnie dominuja wszyskie sklepy.

Same old

A quick post just to prove my point - when expecting you don't have to expect to spend money on extra clothes that are:
a) still pretty ugly
b) relatively expensive
c) you are going to wear them for not more than 6-8 months of your life (or at best multiply by children you are going to have:) )

For my lovely eagle-eyed readers - yes, that is exactly the same outfit I wore couple of months ago but I done it to show that it still looks good with or without belly :)

A zalozylam go ponownie po to, by udowodnic, ze wiele rzeczy pasuje nam bez i z brzuszkiem ;)

Let there be sun(tan)

I really like being tanned, I don't think that pale is interesting (at least not on me). I love when my skin gets this healthy, brown glow instead of tired, worn out, dull, winter shade. Just recently we returned from lovely holidays at my parents' in Poland where the weather was incredibly hot and sunny for this time of year. So without much effort I got my lovely, early summer tan. But now, back in cold, damp and rainy London it's difficult to maintain the results. I can't use sunbed this year (yes, I do use it every year for couple of sessions before summer. And I'm not afraid to admit it) so I have to find different ways to fake the effects of the sun.
And here is my fake-it kit:

From left: Pretty Polly Bronzed Leg Gloss, Dove Summer Glow gradual tan moisturiser, trusty Sephora Sparkling Body Oil
Bottom: Sunkissed bronze shimmer body powder.

I really like the idea of gradual tan moisturiser - it's basically your daily moisturiser with a bit of fake tan lotion mixed in so when you apply it your tan develops slowly over three - four days. Just remember to use gloves when applying it - although not as concentrated as regular fake tan lotion, it still leaves marks in least wanted places.

This brilliant leg gloss is a stick that you run in long strokes all the way up your leg and then just blend it gently with your hands. One application lasts only until you wash it off.

I tend to use the bronzing body powder on my collarbones and down my cleavage creating V effect (apparently it creates illusion of deeper cleavage. Not sure, but who am I to argue...)

And finally my favourite sparkling body oil. It's got lovely texture, it gives a hint of bronze, it sparkles gently and it smells amazing (note to Olutek - you would not agree with me here - it smells of toffee/ chocolate ;) ).
Not sure if you can see on the last picture but I tried to capture the slight colour difference on my forearm (where I used the oil) and my hand.

All these products create gentle bronzing effect and that's what makes it really great. You can build it up as you wish and not look patchy or orange. That's never a good look.

Have fun fake tanning:)

Great treat alert!

Hand up who loves a treat? Me, me, me!!!! And one that I really like is to find a great little present attached to my fav magazine (Elle, InStyle and Glamour in this love order).

So if you love a treat too and live in the UK head quickly to your newsagent and get this month's InStyle mag. They got three different nails inc. polishes to choose from in lovely summery shades that are perfect addition to this season's pastels trend. I got Peach Sorbet and I love it :)

News

Dear all, I've been away from my computer for too long but there is a reason for my absence. I'm pregnant with our second baby. 14 weeks gone. For the past two months I wasn't keen to do much more than sleep but that stage is gone and now I feel like I can move mountains (comparing to previous months that is).
But from the moment I found out about pregnancy I knew what I'm going to do on my blog. I intend to prove that you don't need to spend a penny for maternity wear (except for underwear and a pair or two of trousers - no matter how much lycra there is in your skinnies you cant stretch it that far). I'm lucky as I don't have to worry about winter clothes which would be a bit more tricky but anyway, I'm going to try and show you how to shop in your normal way and end up with clothes that you'll be able to wear after pregnancy (without looking like you are wearing a tent).

And to all the girls that are not pregnant (the majority of my lovely readers) - I promise not to bore you about my state - Fashionholic is a fashion blog and so it will stay :)

Here is couple of pics of my recent purchases that I bought with intention of wearing now, later (when whale-like size) and way after the new arrival :)

All dresses/ white to and flower top H&M, animal print top Dorothy Perkins

And if someone is interested in how to shop avoiding maternity wear departments, here is couple of ideas:

  • always look for fabric with lot of stretch that can grow and shrink with you
  • don't be afraid of clothes that will accentuate your figure - it's possibly the only time where you don't have to be self-conscious about bumps and lumps ;)
  • all throughout pregnancy you can look as fashionable/ sexy/ edgy/ trendy etc. as before

Enjoy your weekend
